Image one I used Illusion to bring the wild into the bedroom. Trees do not grow indoors which makes the familiar strange. The tree image is a picture I took while in the Ravines at Grand Valley where I go often. I used paste into, selection tool (lasso/magnetic), copy and paste, clone stamp,

Project one: Photoshop

For my photoshop project I used my bedroom as my space for exploration. My bedroom, no matter where it is, has always been my safe space where I can relax and be whatever I want to be. Nature has always offered this same feeling as well which is why I used nature in most of my images. The problem I dealt with was the idea that both spaces provide me with relaxation yet they are so different. To solve this problem I decided to bring the outdoors in. With an active mind I often drift off into dream land where I go to places of the past, present, future and fantasy. These 3 images are my representation of the many different forms my bedroom can take depending on what my needs are at the time. All images used in all three postcards are my own.

Image 2 is all about repetition and blending fantasy and reality to create a dream like scene. I used the idea of "dead sleep" as inspiration. When you are in a dead sleep that is usually when you dream so I placed my bedroom into a place that I went on a family weekend trip to which was Silver Lake Sand dunes. I used repetition and transformation to create this image, Clone stamp, pattern stamp, spot healing, adjustment layers, selection tool, paste into and copy and paste to create this image as well.

My third image is trying to portray both calming illusions while using images three and four displacement mask, text, adjustment layers and mask tools. The angle of the photo also brings a dream like style to the image as if you were starting to drift off to sleep. It also envokes a sureal feeling because it is almost as if you are being watched.

The back of the post card emulates the serene and calming effect that a bedroom can have on the soul. If I were to send postcards I would send them from my dreams.
